VW is pushing new technology as a key differentiator between it and rival firms as the German marque aims to maximise efficiency and sustainability through new innovations. By 2018, it aims to reduce energy usage and the consumption of water, cutting back on waste and emissions (including CO2 emissions) by 25% across all business areas.
After a raft of rumours had circulated, VW confirmed that they are about to offer motorists a terrific big-boot version of the hugely popular Golf R Hatchback. This estate was due to publicly debut at the recent Los Angeles Motor Show, and this follows on from the introduction of the VW Golf R itself in Frankfurt last year.
Ever since the original and iconic Mk 1 GTI, the Volkswagen Golf has become a brand in its own right with the reputation of delivering leading-edge engineering, performance and build quality in a mid-sized hatchback package. That brand value seems set to be consolidated even further in the next generation Golf Mk 8 now taking final shape behind high walls at Wolfsburg.

The Golf R has been awarded Hot Hatch of the Year 2014 in Top Gear magazine’s awards issue and voted the best of ‘Britain’s Top 50 Cars’ in last week’s issue of Autocar magazine (26 November).
