German giants Volkswagen have continued their push of revolutionising their already stellar range with the announcement of a revised version of their compact city-car.
The latest edition of the Up! Is now on sale from just £8,995 and also comes with the option of an electric powered model, the e-up, which starts from £20,780 having incorporated the government grant. The introductory version of the up!, the Take up! is available to order from £8,995 and is equipped with a 59bhp 1.0 petrol engine. Next comes the Move Up! And the High Up! Before the range topping e-Up!
The e-up’s electric 80bhp engine can get you from 0-62mph in an impressive 12.4 seconds with a top speed of 80mph. Volkswagen have put work into the electric city-car’s range as it will now take you 93 miles between charges. VW’s electric version of their smallest car is also the lightest model in the up! Range despite the 230kg, due to extra work undertaken by Volkswagen engineers to shed weight.
The entire up! Range comes with an abundance of high-tech equipment including a ‘Composition’ infotainment system, electric windows, remote central locking and a height adjustable driver’s seat to ensure you are as comfortable as possible as you cruise the city streets. The Move up! Boasts a stunning set of 15” alloys, a crisp touchscreen infotainment system that comes equipped with Bluetooth connectivity. Up the range, the High up! Adds a satellite navigation system, a multi-functioning steering wheel as well as a trip computer to give you all the vital stats of your journey. The e-Up’s standard kit will be based on a highly kitted out High Up! That boasts Car-Net app technology which enables you to check the charge of your vehicle, review your recent journeys and make changes to aspects such as air-conditioning from the touch of your phone.
Under the bonnet the 1.0 litre TSI motor comes in two variants, producing either 59bhp or 74bhp and is fitted with Volkswagen’s BlueMotion technology which results in just 100g/km of CO2 emission that keep it in the highly-demanded tax-free bracket.
The 89bhp engine is new for this revised version of the up! And combines impressive performance with remarkable efficiency. With 160Nm of torque the turbo engine will get you to 62mph in under 10 seconds and top end will reach 115mph. Despite these impressive statistics, the TSI will still manage 64.2mpg.
As for aesthetic changes, the new Up! Will get LED daytime running lights that put it in line with the rest of the VW range. The German giants have also fitted new rear lights, revised door mirrors as well as redesigned rear bumper and rear wing.
The changes continue internally as well. The compact supermini gets a new set of seats, additional colours for the dash, and a more efficient air-conditioning unit. Volkswagen have also introduced a new up! Beats trim which comes fitted with a crisp, branded audio system.
Volkswagen haven’t cut any corners with the latest model as they have worked tirelessly to ensure the Up! Is as customisable to your needs as possible. Their work has been fruitful too, boasting 63,180 different customisable choices that include 13 colours, 9 sticker designs, 3 roof top colours and 2 interior colour options. Alloy wheel options have been extended too, as they now come in black, orange and gold.
